CHINA, SEPTEMBER 2014: IEV International Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IEV Holdings Limited was awarded the supply of its patented Marine Growth Prevention (“MGP”) products to six platforms at offshore Bohai Bay, China.
The contract which is valued at approximately USD 260,000 was awarded following the successful pilot project of utilising IEV’s latest generation wave driven MGP (“MGP-W”) products with “Anti-Impact” (“AI”) features at two platforms at the same field. The project which was conducted for three months in 2013, consisted of two AI MGP units deployed at the jacket leg and conductor to test its durability in withstanding the extreme Bohai Bay’s winter weather and sea ice condition while preventing marine growth. The patent pending AI MGP-W is equipped with rubber-HDPE infused discs at its connector which forms a protective layer to absorb direct impact prolonging its durability in the harsh weather.
A total of 174 single ring AI MGPs will be installed in 4Q2014 at the offshore platforms’ splash zone to prevent marine growth consequently increases its structural capacity to carry additional deck loads and also prolongs its operating and fatigue life. This is the first commercial project for MGP application in sea ice condition due to winter.
The Marine Growth Preventer, an invention of IEV, has been installed on over 450 structures worldwide since 1990. To date, over 30,000 of such products have been employed to protect offshore platform structures and jetties. Currently in China alone, over 7,000 MGPs had been installed on over 50 structures since 2001.
