IEV TO UNDERTAKE SHM SYSTEM STUDY WITH UTP
OCT 2014 – IEV (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd entered into a collaboration agreement with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (“UTP”) to develop and implement a structural health monitoring (‘SHM’) system on offshore structures. The three year collaboration plan will see the first system being tested on an unmanned PETRONAS offshore platform in 2015. IEV will be lending its expertise through the planning, procuring and executing offshore installation works and in the planning and designing of the offshore enclosure during the implementation and testing phase.
The SHM system complements IEV’s Repair, Maintenance and Life Extension Solutions (“RMLES”) asset integrity management and assist in improving the safety and maintainability of offshore structures. Designed and developed by UTP, the SHM system facilitates the planning of inspection, maintenance and repair for many aged structures. It tests the offshore structures’ health and performance by identifying and locating damages through its online monitoring system. The system is also logistically efficient with minimized labor, downtime and human error.
