This week we celebrate the recognition of our “ocean-powered” Marine Growth Preventer (MGP) solution through the 6th award from the same customer who operates large oil & gas concessions in Southeast Asia. A total of 16 platforms were fitted with the MGP at the fabrication yard prior to deployment over the past 14 years.
The platforms are protected from marine growth colonization right from the date of installation, hence benefiting from a zero-growth profile in the wave zone where reduced cyclic stresses result in a prolonged fatigue life and lower wave forces offer a higher structural capacity to withstand extreme ocean forces and enhance Reserved Strength Ratio. Inspection of critical components such as risers and caissons in the highly corrosive splash zone environment can also be carried out without prior removal of marine fouling. This hazardous task of periodic cleaning for divers and ROVs in the wave zone can be eliminated if offshore structures are pre-fitted with MGPs.
